Would an employment-based visa be faster than a fiancé or spouse visa?
The answer is going to depend on whether you are needing to find a company to sponsor you and what logistics you already have in place for an employment-based visa. Sometimes couples wonder if the employment-based options in the US immigration system are faster, in hopes of circumventing long wait times. We have been receiving this question a lot, and it makes sense. You are doing your research and wanting to make sure you are exploring all of your options. Unfortunately, the employment side of immigration is equally complex and also has long wait times. Our firm focuses exclusively on helping couples, but we wanted to provide information on this topic, as we know it is a common question.
If you have an employment-based option already in the works, that’s great and that’s something to pursue. But I would caution you to not go down the rabbit hole of trying to find a magic solution that will be faster necessarily than the fiancé visa or even the spouse visa for that matter. We often see couples get so paralyzed by research and the options available that it delays you taking forward motion to file an application for a spouse or fiance visa.
